Chapter 1, The Fifteen-Dollar Ticket. You start on battered rental skis. Five levels take you from your first snowplow to a race against Astrid down the valley, and the first of the mountain's secrets.

Julian "Jules" Vane, twenty-two and broke. Not an athlete, not sponsored, not a skier. Once he is moving fast, he reads openings and fall lines by instinct. The mountain has noticed.

Chapter 1 is only the first climb. Four more acts rise from the forbidden sidecountry to the summit, and every one is buried in secrets: old maps, torn photographs, journals half-buried in the drift. The air thins, the stakes climb, and the mountain stops behaving like the brochure.
